... I can never protect anyone. Not Zolf and Rodimus, not Amelia and the others... not even myself. I make one stupid slip-up and I get turned into a freaking monster... And I still can't protect anyone. Ruby-Eye... Ruby-Eye killed... Ugh.

The only good thing that came out of this blasted body is that I had to grow up real fast. I can't afford to be a stupid kid looking for a shortcut to power any more.

Stupid Rezo. How does someone go from one of the most benevolent men in the world to a possessed lunatic? He wouldn't have done this back then. Lectured, maybe, but he wouldn't have done something like this to anyone just to teach them a lesson...

I wish I could protect them...

I wish I could protect her. Someone like her shouldn't have to deal with this stuff. She shouldn't have her illusions shattered this early. How does she keep so cheerful all the time? She's not stupid, it's not like she doesn't know what's going on...

... I wouldn't have a chance with her, anyway. Who could love a monster?

We all have things in our past that we wish we could change. There's no point in dwelling on them and making ourselves miserable.

Easy for you to say. You aren't reminded of the results every time you look at yourself.

I am reminded of the results every time I look around my world.

Oh? *perhaps a little nastier than he intended* Well, what's your problem, then?

I failed to stop my former friend from splitting our world in two-- quite literally. How is that?

... Oh.

I'm sorry, I... I didn't mean...

You didn't know. No, I have many things in my past that I regret. That is why I am working to change the future.

And here I was going on about my own problems...

I hope you don't plan on feeling sorry for me. I have accepted the blame for what I've done and am dealing with it in my own way.

Sorry. It's just my luck I'd end up whining about my problems to someone who has it worse than I do...

Your problems are undoubtedly every bit as serious to you as mine are to me. There's no point in trying to compare something so emotionally charged.

I guess you're right. Sorry; it's a little upsetting to have things brought into perspective like that.

Understandable. For what it's worth, however, my world is slowly beginning to rebuild itself and heal. I'm sure you will be able to find a way to reverse the spell on you as well.

... Thanks. I hope things work out, too - for both of us.

And the same to you.
